New By-Laws, & More

Ray Knott ROA #1 Director/ Editor, ray@rivowners.org

Amended By-Laws — The original by-laws were written in 1985 after ROA incorporated in Colorado as a non-profit corporation. At that time I never expected to have ROA grow to the large International Association it has become. For those who don’t know, initially ROA only served owners of the 1963-1965 Rivieras, because those were the only years I owned and knew. Within a short time and with the help of others, ROA expanded to include all years. In addition to the many changes the amended by-laws will set term limits to board members to enable dedicated members to lead ROA into the future. They are printed in this issue and also posted on our web site. I hope you’ll take the time to read them. The amended by-laws require that the Trustees reappoint the Director at the start of each year. At their January meeting the Trustees asked me to continue to serve as Director for the year 2008 and I accepted..

Updated Web Site — We hope you enjoy the new look to our web site. with an expanded Member’s Only section, updates on our 2008 meet, updated Regional News, a new page for previous issues and other new features. My thanks go to Mike Vogt, our webmaster who with his creative mind has spent many hours revitalizing our site and putting up with my suggestions.

In Print series — Last month I began a new series entitled In Print, which will focus on the coverage of the Riviera in National and International publications from 1962 to present. I was hoping to solicit material from the membership. Since then much of the library has been returned and I expect that I will be able to continue this series in the May/June Riview after the literature has been inventoried and organized.

Recognition — In the December 27th issue of Old Cars Weekly a full page story appeared about Silver Arrow lll at the 1972 Chicago Auto Show. This was followed by a letter from me in their Jan 17th issue Also in January, Hemming’s on-line Newsletter gave ROA and our meet in Galena top billing .

Galena 2008 Meet — Registrations are coming in fast for our 2008 meet. In fact the Ramada, our host hotel, is full and when you call they will put you up in the Country Inn and Suites about a 150 feet away. The sleeping rooms in the overflow are just as clean and new, at the same price and with the same amenities, including free breakfast. Don't hesitate any longer to register with the hotel and with our office. Registration forms are in the Riview and elsewhere on this website. Again this year we have arranged with GM to bring some very special show cars for display. including Silver Arrow lll and others that you probably have never seen before.

I hope to see you there!
