Membership Increases

Membership Increases — Prior to 2003 membership in ROA held steady at 3,200. Over the following three years membership dropped to 2,400. I am happy to report that in the past year membership has grown and we expect to pass the 2,800 mark before the June meet. I want to thank everyone for their continued support.

2008 ROA Meet in Galena is drawing closer and our host hotel is filled, as are the standard rooms in the County Inn & Suites next door, which can only offer suites at $109. If interested in a suite you can reach them at 815-777-2400. We have since arranged for additional rooms at a very fine hotel also located on Hwy 20, just before entering the village of Galena. E-mail Changes — Years ago when ROA first established our domain name I was the only person answering e-mails at (roa@rivowners.org) In January of 2007 when I returned as Director, the office was established at another location and we had a need for separate e-mail addresses. Over the past year that original address has rarely been used and is filled with Spam. Therefore we are dropping the “roa@rivowners” address and ask that you remove it from your address books.

New Registry & Web site for those interested in the convertibles. Initially the site will focus on the 1984-85 “Turbo optioned” convertibles, of which only 96 were produced. The site will contain facts, historical data, details on conception and design as well as a registry . As the site matures and more information becomes available, its designer Lewis Schwartz #9789 hopes to add information on all of the 1982-85s. Lewis is looking for contacts within American Sun Roof (ASC) who make the conversions. Also, any history, conceptual drawings, photographs, assembly line work photos, product brochures, print ads, and most anything related to this model from Buick and ASC..
